About Us
Polk County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division consists of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 4 Sergeants, 1 Administrative Sergeant, 4 Corporals, and 15 Deputies, all certified through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Polk County consists of 1,110 square miles and 1,577 miles of road to patrol. Patrol Deputies work 12-hour shifts. The shifts are divided into 2-day shifts, 2 mid shifts, and 2 night shifts. Deputies full-time or reserve must complete a comprehensive field training evaluation before being released to patrol on their own.
Calls for service are assigned to 1 of 97 categories ranging from abandoned vehicles and welfare checks to sexual assault and homicide. Deputies work school zones, provide civil standbys upon Judge’s orders, and various other community-based assistance upon written request. Although these calls range in severity, all of them are treated with the same dedication and professionalism Polk County residents have come to count on. Overall command of the Division is held by Captain Dave Sottosanti. You may contact him by telephone at (936) 327 6810 or by dsottosanti@polkcountyso.net.
