Taking
the fear out of Being Alone
Contacting an elderly
person, homebound individual or latch-key child on a daily basis helps to
reassure their well being and give them a feeling of security.
The Are You OK?® telephone reassurance system eases the concern of friends and
family who may find it difficult to maintain consistent, reliable contact.
Parents of a 9-year-old child may want to make sure their child is home on time
from school. An 85-year-old woman wants the independence of living alone in her
home along with the security of being monitored. The RUOK® system brings a
sense of comfort into every subscriber’s home. The RUOK Program is a computer
based call system that lets the the participant select the time that they would
like to be contacted during the day or night. This contact can be set to make
sure your child has made it home from school or a medicine reminder (a reminder
to take medication). This call can also be set just to make sure you are OK and
do not need any medical, fire, or law enforcement at your location. The
computer calls the number that you provide and plays a prerecorded message when
the phone is answered. If there is no answer at the predetermined time and
number, and after a set amount of retires the computer will print a call card
to our Polk County Sheriff's Office Dispatchers. Dispatchers will try to make contact and send a Sheriff's Deputy or City
Police Officer to your location to check on you. This system is not designed to
replace other systems like Life Alert. This is a supplement system to anything
that you might have in place already. Please be mindful that accurate information and the ongoing effort to keep up this information by reporting any changes or times that you might not be home or at the designated number is vital to the success of this program working for you. If you would like to join this program
please fill out the form below, hit submit and we will get you into the call
system as quick as possible.
